NATIONAL GREENPAGE BUSINESS SYMPOSIUM & TRADE FAIR 2009.

INTRODUCTION

The word “No Sales” is a common phrase in almost every sphere of our business discussion and it is commonly used by men and women in every business sector. “Our sales have dropped or thereare no sales” have become a familiar song within and around our business Communities, and one could not but ask questions why the low sales or outrigh no-sales almost everywhere? In my own view I think the reasons could not be unconnected with poor organization of the business environment in which we are operating in this country. Epileptic power supply contributed about 99.9 percent to the low sales being recorded on daily basis in every business. Some people strive to get the needed capital to start their business and within few months, they were frustrated out of it due to poor and inadequate power supply and poor patronage.

The recent Business and Establishments Survey carried out by an organization (SMEDAN) in Nigeriashows that four out of every five business organizations collapse within the first and third year of operations, yet shopping complexes are being built here and there, some are without proper structural and architectural planning, funny enough, you get to some of these shopping complexes and you'll find many of them locked up due to low sales or none.

Even some of our so called modern markets built by some government agencies are equipped with poor basic amenities, and one would discover that the focus is only on few items. This makes shoppers to walk several hours before getting their needs. “I am going for shopping” is good to say, but where to shop and shop properly is another problem. Some of our so called shopping malls are neither worthy to be called shopping mall nor does the environments friendly for shoppers.

Some of our people who are financially buoyant have to travel abroad for shopping, whereas what they are going to shop for in abroad are available here in Nigeria and even at a cheaper price. Hence because of lack of proper organization and poor environmental planning, business men and women are loosing their prospective costumers on regular basis hence, the common slogan of “No Sales” In an environment like ours where every business are scattered, we need an avenue or a mechanism that will bring all businesses together like what the National Greenpages Business Directory has done by gathering the business information together in a book. Bringing all subscribers in the National Greenpages Business Directory together in a physical form which enhances a face- to- face buying and selling, however, this is why we are organizing Greenpages Trade Fair 2009, (just like a Mega Shopping Mall) where one can find almost everything in a unique way and with ease.

In an effort to boost the sales of our subscribers and to contribute our own quota towards stabilizing all the unstable business organizations in Nigeria however, that is why we are organizing the National Greenpages 2009 Trade Fair, where all businesses will be at a venue and enjoy inter personal business interactions for seven days. “Imagine all Businesses in One Venue for 7 Days!”

We believe such an event shall bring businesses together for good at Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba, Ibadan for a week and it would no doubt, be like a change of environment for business men and women. It would also generate more business ideas for any entrepreneur who can identify business opportunities as it shall be a new way of marketing products which aims at bringing an increase in the participants' sales returns. It's just like the National Greenpages get the pains, and our subscribers get the profit.

Nigeria got the political independent 48 years ago yet economic situations remained undefined. When will this great country gain her economic autonomy? A stage where micro finance would be able to finance for better, a stage where universal financial institutions in Nigeria would attain a standard where every working class people will have access to credit facilities without much stress.

The National Greenpages 2009 Trade Fair is however, scheduled to commence from Monday 11th - Sunday 17th May, 2009 at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan and the time is 8:00 am - 7 pm daily with the theme: Africa Deserves Economic Freedom (ADEF) “Nigeria Need Trade Not Aid”.

In an environment like ours where every business are scattered, we need an avenue or a mechanism that can bring all businesses together. This trade fair provides a answer to this quest by bringing businesses together in a practical and physical format, where face-to-face selling can be easily achieved. Since our business environments is not all that organized, we therefore need trade fair that will bring all businesses together which could be likening to a Mega Shopping Mall.

The consumer does keep money for trade fair because he/she understand that whatever he/she is

Trade exhibition provides a high business links and friendly environment than any other business location. It gives you a better chance to sell and market your products. A wide range of business activities and objectives that will bring an increase on sales of products and services can be achieved at the Trade Fair. It is easier at the trade fair to achieve any business agenda either in marketing or sales of products within a shortest time.
